These guidelines apply to all Nokian Tyres Group´s employees, customers, licensees and other third parties, who are using our trademarks.
General
“Nokian Tyres” is the trademark of Nokian Tyres plc. Use the trademark correctly in the form of “Nokian Tyres” when referring to our company or products. Note that both words of the trademark use upper case letter. Do not alter the spelling of the trademarks and do not inflect the words.

Trademark right establishes a right to protect the trademarks and the right to prohibit others from exploiting the goodwill of our trademarks or disrupting the distinctiveness of them. All group’s trademarks are to be treated and used in a manner that protects them.
Registered trademarks and their use when referring to the company
The company name and registered trademark is NOKIAN TYRES®
- Always use the correct trademark when referencing the company. For example “Nokian Tyres opens a new factory in Europe…” or “a representative from Nokian Tyres says to have set ambitious targets…” or “the new release from the Finnish tire maker Nokian Tyres was a top performing summer tire in…”.
- Cutting the company name to “Nokian” is incorrect and violating use of the trademark.
Registered trademarks and their use when referring to group’s products
Nokian Tyres plc’s products are marketed under the registered trademarks NOKIAN TYRES® and NORDMAN®.
Products marketed under the trademark NOKIAN TYRES®
Nokian Tyres plc’s Passenger Car Tyres unit’s and Heavy Tyres unit’s premium products are marketed under the trademark Nokian Tyres®.
- Use the correct trademark Nokian Tyres® when referring to products.
- Correct examples of use: “Nokian Tyres® winter tires in stock now” or “new Nokian Tyres® selection now available” or “Nokian Tyres® forestry tires for professional use”.
- Using the form “Nokian” is violating the trademark.
When referring to a certain product, the product name always includes the trademark “Nokian Tyres” and is followed by the model specification name.
- Example of a product name: Nokian Tyres Hakkapeliitta® R5
- Use the full, correct product name visually equal in size and thickness. Do not highlight any part of the name over the other.
- In general, when applicable, the registered symbol ® in product names comes after the model specification name. The use of the ® symbol must be checked before use to ensure correct use.
- The product name change took place in 2022. For example, Nokian Hakkapeliitta® 10 is now Nokian Tyres Hakkapeliitta® 10. Additional guidelines of the product name update according to the trademark rules can be found here: https://www.nokiantyres.com/campaigns/product-name-change/
- Using the form “Nokian” in product names is violating the trademark. Always use “Nokian Tyres”
Certain product model names are also independent trademarks like HAKKAPELIITTA® and HAKKA®, but according to the product name change, such independent trademarks may also be trademarked and therefore used in the forms NOKIAN TYRES HAKKAPELIITTA® and NOKIAN TYRES HAKKA®.
Products marketed under the trademark NORDMAN®
NORDMAN®
NOKIAN TYRES NORDMAN®
Group’s Passenger Car Tyre unit markets a selection of products under the trademark Nordman®. The Nordman trademark is in use both with and without the Nokian Tyres trademark. Both forms are applicable to correct use ensuring trademark protection. All new Nordman products are launched to the market with the trademark Nordman® from 2023 onwards.
Using Nokian Tyres trademarks: For Dealers and other third-party users
Our authorized dealers are allowed to use our trademarks when selling and marketing our products. If you want to use our trademarks in other uses, please always check this by using the e-mail address below.
It is not allowed to use our trademarks in false, misleading, or dubious advertising or confuse the trademark with any other brand or appear as Nokian Tyres.
If you are not our authorized dealer, you can state in your marketing that you are selling our products. However, you are not allowed to use our trademarks in a manner that suggest a business relationship with us.
- Use only current and approved identity artwork.
- Use trademarks in accordance with Nokian Tyres brand guidelines.
- Do not alter the spelling of the trademarks and do not inflect the words.
- Use ® and ™ symbols depending on the fact, whether or not the trademark is registered. Ask using the below e-mail address to ensure which symbol to use.
- Always when possible, declare the ownership of the trademarks in your marketing material as follows: ”NOKIAN TYRES is a trademark or registered trademark of Nokian Tyres plc” or ”NORDMAN is a trademark or registered trademark of Nokian Tyres plc”
- It is forbidden to add Nokian Tyres Group’s trademarks to any products (for example clothes) by printing or otherwise without prior written permission from Nokian Tyres plc.
